REVIEW: Horde Of Worms - Wormageddon (EP) Bloodbucket Productions, 2001
6.5/10
Horde Of Worms - Wormageddon (EP) - cover art Horde Of Worms is a band from Canada that was formed in the spring of 1996 by two friends named Alexander Erhardt and Brent Assoun. Throughout the years they have always made up the core of the band and they have also set up their own label Bloodbucket Productions since they didn't want to sit around waiting until they were picked up by a bigger label. They have released two full length albums prior to this EP. Horde Of Worms is very much inspired by blast beat bands like Kataklysm and although they are proud of saying that the use of a drum machine distinguishes them from other bands we all know that there is nothing new about this. However these guys are for sure not without talent or musical skills. The EP starts out with a ferocious killer track called "Immortal Coil" that should please every fan of extreme metal no matter how you feel about the use drum machines. After all, if you want plenty of blast beats in your songs it is not very humane to use a human if you know what I mean. Unfortunately the rest of the songs fail to live up to the expectations created by the two opening killers. It is however a fine release from a band that would perhaps be next up for Relapse?
