Not only does Houwitzer feature many members of Sinister, but to me, also features their left-over songs minus some of the technical flair. One would think that by now Houwitzer would have developed their own distinct style, but this still sounds like b-sides to "Creative Killings" to me, which honestly isn't really a bad thing, as Sinister is good death metal, it's just a little tough to take these guys as a separate entity. Drummer Aad sticks to syncopated 16th note blasts on his hi-hat for the majority of the songs, slowing down to some quarter and eighth note grooves where need be. "Hunger for the Feast" closes out with some catchy riffs, but by that point my mind had wandered in search of something more interesting. Houwitzer are heavy, and possess a decent amount of speed, yet don't offer anything which can set them apart from the hundreds of other death metal bands around the world, aside from the fact that they are a Sinister side-project, of course.
