REVIEW: How Like A Winter - The Winters Near (demo) Self-financed, 2001
6.5/10
How Like A Winter - The Winters Near (demo) - cover art You might also think twice when you hear the band name, I know I did, but the band explains it that it was a Shakespeare piece... So, now you know (but does it make it better ?). Well, How Like A Winter is a doom band from south-Italy, clashing with older My Dying Bride stuff, with the use of a deep vocals and a melancholic sound, enriched with some violins to have some sort of originality. They do this 6 piece demo quite listenable, but the problem is that I have had it in my player all evening without noticing anything very special about it. Anonymous it might be, but well done, so this band can probably be noticed in doom circuits if they continue like with this one. For the record, it shows that there are 2 female vocalists in the band, but don't get fooled, as I think they are there merely for the pictures on the cover and not for their singing (as the few lines they put choirs on really is not noticeable).
