REVIEW: Human Race - Dirt Eater Massacre Records, 2001
7/10
Human Race - Dirt Eater - cover art When one thinks about Gothenburg band names like At The Gates and In Flames come to mind but even though Human Race is from the same city they sound very different from these two. This album contains close to an hour of pure melodic heavy metal that sounds like nothing I´ve ever heard before. They have a kind of rock 'n roll groove in their music that reminds a lot of the old bands from the golden 80s. This kind of metal hasn´t been heard from very often lately and I´m glad to hear it again. Heavy grooving rhythms and beautiful vocal lines from Stefan Marchesini interact with each other very nicely to form a very solid and fresh sound. Perhaps all songs aren´t of the highest possible quality but this is still a very good above average release that will hopefully not disappoint many. Human Race has a very thick and powerful sound but sometimes it is a little bit too much noise and too little melody. A couple of amazing tracks and a very good production makes this album highly listenable.
