After an ominous and eerie intro the drums start to blast and we are offered growling death vocals, intense guitar riffs and brooding industrialized sampling. Does it sound strange? Well, I don't know about you but to me it doesn't sound that strange at all because it seems to be the new trend for black and death metal bands to include industrial sampling and industrial music in general in their sonic arsenal. Sometimes the result is impressive but most bands fail to create something of major interest. This is also the case with this Polish band called Hyperion. They have been around since 1999 and have played several shows in their home country with more or less well known bands such as Behemoth, Epitome and Azarath. They have tried to enhance their music by adding a strong industrial touch without disturbing the flow too much but sometimes they still sound a little misplaced. This partly depends on that the tracks were recorded in only 30 hours and the sound quality of the samples is of course better than the real instruments. The samples support furious and relentless death metal with brutal vocals and pretty standard riffing. It is a nonetheless a decent album and I definitely think that Hyperion should continue to develop their own unique sound in the future.
