REVIEW: Hypocrisy - 10 Years Of Chaos And Confusion Nuclear Blast, 2001
9/10
Hypocrisy - 10 Years Of Chaos And Confusion - cover art Peter Tägtgren has become one of the most important personalities in the world of metal with Hypocrisy, Pain and the Abyss Studio as his most prominent creations. Without him the extreme metal scene in Sweden would probably be a lot weaker. His first project Hypocrisy has now been alive for ten years and this anniversary is celebrated with this release, covering the band's history from the debut album "Penetralia" all the way through to present days. In the early days the band was spewing out rather primitive but still powerful death metal in the Floridan style but over the years the sound has become more complex and the last couple of albums even have some successful orchestral arrangements. This album includes some of the deadliest sins from Hypocrisy and should give everyone a good picture of what to expect from their albums. If you're still unfamiliar (poor fellows...) with the band this is the ideal album to start off your exploration with. It's a lucky thing that "The Final Chapter" wasn't to be the final chapter. May chaos and confusion live forever!
