REVIEW: Illogicist - Polymorphism Of Death (EP) Self-financed, 2002
8/10
Illogicist - Polymorphism Of Death (EP) - cover art Illogicist is a young Italian death metal band that was formed in 1997 by the two core members Luca Minieri (guitars) and Remy Curtaz (drums). Once in a while you discover unsigned bands who outdo many signed acts and this is the case with these guys. Illogicist play highly technical death metal inspired by bands like Death and Atheist but they are also influenced by classical music and jazz/fusion. This is a band comprised of members who know what they want and it would be very strange if they didn't get a record deal very soon if they just push forward. Even though this three song promo EP is completely self-financed the production is very good indeed thanks to the use of a professional studio called One Voice. All three songs on this EP are made up of high quality death metal that never bores you. The music is intense and raw with very nice growling but also melodic and technical. This is one of the most exciting new bands out there today and it has been very long since I heard such good music from an unsigned band. If everything turns out as it should we have a lot to look forward to from this Italian band. If you are into technical death metal you have to check out this band!
