The black metal pioneers Immortal have made
it again. This album is superb and even the albums before this one are great
but this album takes us to another level. All the classic Norwegian riffs and
sound is there, so is the brutal feeling combined with some softer parts that
are as good as the rest of the album. All the songs included on this album are
raw, brutal and fast. With the soft parts in them they manage to create a
atmosphere that is as dark and mysterious as Blashyrkh itself. The vocals feel
like a little evil demon standing there and spitting out its disgust over
something or someone, or is it just evil? But it's all good, this performance
is the very best that I´ve heard in a long time. Hours and hours float by, so
do the tracks but nothing on this album bores me out, it just keeps on being
better and better for every time. When you look at the album cover you may get
the feeling that they try and manage to reach (For those of you that have not
seen it: It's two members of Immortal sitting in the snow with their broad
axe guitars). And tell me, isn't the winter cold, dark and evil? Anyway, so
is this album a great step in the right direction for Immortal and I look
forward to the next with this wonderful band, when it's finally going to
arrive I´m going to feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Until then the words
will still echo in my head… Blashyrkh mighty raven
dark!
