From the start of the CD, Impaled Nazarene seem to be heading in the right direction on All That You Fear. The title for this release is the perfect one, since the album sounds like everything one would really fear, but, of course, in the best way possible.
With thirteen tracks total, the band brings some well crafted black metal that isn't just repetitive and recycled like many bands enjoy doing. Most of the music is a blistering pace, with ravaging songs like "Armageddon Death Squad" ready to just rip your face off. But then, you get some melodic sounding songs, like "The Endless War," as well as some traditional black metal cuts like "Curse Of The Dead Medusa," which is perhaps the greatest song on the album just for the lyrics (an example would be "Life sucks and then you die!" during the chorus).
There really isn't anything negative to say about this release. The only real issue is that sometimes it sounds like the vocalist is straining to hit a higher note. Outside of that fact, the album is killer. It has a perfect blend of insanely fast tracks that will make you want to punch the nearest thing, living or not, and some that will tone you down a bit and perhaps make you want to offer up a sacrifice. It's hard to choose which song would be the best, or perhaps even a personal favorite.
All That You Fear is one hell of a black metal release that has something for everyone on it. From start to finish you'll be banging your head to everything this album has to put you in a state of "fear."
