REVIEW: In Pain Die - Replace And Discard (EP) Self-financed, 2002
5/10
In Pain Die - Replace And Discard (EP) - cover art In Pain Die is a very young band from England who formed in 2000. They have recorded a couple of demos so far with this one being their latest. Inspired by the harsher school of modern nu-metal bands they shred away through six tracks without respect. There are some very nice riffing to be heard from these youngsters, especially on the first two tracks, but unfortunately there are some major flaws about this disc as well. First off the production is pretty bad but that is something you will have to look past when judging demo recordings. The second thing is that the voice of the vocalist lacks the energy necessary to make their music come alive. He has the same melancholic tone as Zach used to have with Rage Against The Machine but he lacks the energy and power. The band should also stay away from slower passages too since they sound pretty lousy. They are not bad musicians, it's just that they have to improve their song writing skills and find a sound of their own (hopefully a less monotonous one). A rather flat and uninspiring release that should only be of interest to hardcore nu-metal fans.
