REVIEW: Incapacity - Chaos Complete Cold Records, 2003
7/10
Incapacity - Chaos Complete - cover art Where to start this review...? Well, the history of the band sort of tells it all. Incapacity was born in the summer of 2002 when Omer Akay, label manager of the Swedish company Cold Records, made a phonecall to Anders Edlund from Mighty Music recording artists Solar Dawn. He offered him a record contract if he could assemble a death / thrash metal band with some well-known members. Today the band consists of Anders himself on bass, Andreas Axelsson (ex-Edge Of Sanity, ex-Marduk) on vocals, Christian Älvestam (Solar Dawn, Unmoored) on and Robert Ivarsson (ex-Ashes, ex-Pan-Thy-Monium, ex-Ophthalamia) on guitars and Henrik Schönström (Solar Dawn, Unmoored) on drums. The line-up is apparently very strong and it definitely shows on this album. The songs are nice and varied, the music is very well played and everything is just in place. The production is also powerful and stellar clear thanks to the work of Jonas Kjellgren from Carnal Forge / Centinex and his own Black Lounge Studio. "Chaos Complete" is a very melodic album but also dark and brutal, much thanks to the vocals from Andreas Axelsson. All in all this is a solid and enjoyable debut album from Incapacity that should appeal to fans of bands like Carnal Forge, Edge Of Sanity and older In Flames even though it does not really offer the listener anything new. Stand-out tracks: "3rd Degree Suffering", "Cancerchrist".
