Infernal was there
when the underground death metal scene in Brazil began to form into shape in
the mid-80's with bands like Sarcófago and Sepultura. The band formed in
Curitiba in 1986 and in 1989 they released their first demo "The First
Stage". This is a band that still stay true to their roots and on their
latest album they deliver raging death metal in the old classic Florida vein.
It's almost as if a little bit of nostalgia kicks in while listening to this
violent piece of art from a world afar. I have never been to South America, in
fact I haven't left the European continent yet, but I do know that metal is
really doing great over there today. There are not that many bands from South
America who have made it big in the metal scene since those early days but
Infernal and others prove to us that Brazil still has a lot to offer if you
are willing to look into the local scene. This is a quality release with great
vocals that should definitely appeal to fans of classic American death metal.
It does not offer anything new of course but it is well executed. These guys
know what they are doing and they do it with skills close to perfection. Only
recommended for fans of the first wave of American death metal bands but if
that is your cup of tea you will certainly love
Infernal.
