REVIEW: Infernal Legion - Sculptured Humans The LSP Company, 2001
6/10
Infernal Legion - Sculptured Humans - cover art Infernal Legion is a Belgian band that was formed in 1993 but it wasn't until 1996 that they found a stable line-up and managed to record a demo tape called "My Black Beloved". In April last year they also signed a record deal with LSP and here is the first result of that cooperation. Starting out as a raw black metal act they have developed their sound by introducing elements from classic death and thrash metal which makes this album a very intense experience indeed. Even though there is a lot of energy and raw power on this album there are also plenty of nice heavy riffs and catchy tunes are not absent either. There is evidence of talent shown in several of the tracks on this cd but the sound quality could have been better and this makes the album less enjoyable than it could have been. "Sculptured Humans" is still a good solid first release from the band and hopefully they will maintain their aggression and improve the sound quality on their second opus which should not be too far away. If you just can't get enough of extreme metal this is for you. The artwork was made by the well-known Belgian artist Kris Verwimp whose art has been visible on hundreds of cd's, t-shirts etc. all over the world. Infernal Legion has an interesting sound but it isn't quite good enough to make if to the top yet.
