Inhale
from Varberg on the Swedish west coast is perhaps the band to take over on the
Swedish hardcore metal scene after LOK paved the way a few years ago. At least
their sound is very similar and if you are a LOK fan you should be very
interested in following the career of this new young band. Uncompromising,
rock hard lyrics in Swedish will also appeal to many LOK fans. The hip hop /
rap music scene in Sweden has developed extremely fast during the last five or
so years and Inhale actually sounds like a mix of rap music, Machine Head and
LOK when you think of it. Just like in the case with the Norwegian black metal
bands writing their lyrics in Norwegian I think it is very stupid to write
your lyrics in anything but English, at least if you think you want to say
something with your music but that is of course up to them. Inhale shows a
fairly aggressive and hungry attitude on this debut release and I think this
band will make a lot of new fans through it. It is a pretty good album but it
feels like a rather pale copy of LOK and since I am not a huge fan of LOK in
the first place this is not the highlight of the year for me. It is a very
decent release though and I think these guys can come a long way since they
will appeal to a lot of the mainstream media
crowd.
