REVIEW: Inner Wish - Inner Strength Limb Music, 2006
8/10
Inner Wish - Inner Strength - cover art The Greek Power Metallers "stroke" again in 2006 with a release that reminds of their name, Inner Strength. The songs luckily remain for once more at the high standards that the band has accustomed its audience.

Their main "weapon" is the solid "concrete" sound that is forged by the guitar duet of Thimios Krikos and Manolis Tsigos, Antonis Mazarakis at the bass and Terry Moros at the drums. Needless to say that all musicians are skillful enough; but what makes the difference is the crystal voice of Babis Alexandropoulos. At this release they have a new permanent member George Georgiou at the keyboards; however this addition doesn't necessarily mean change of music direction.

Despite its 55-minute duration the whole album can be listened to very pleasantly. Without losing their style they have a variety of songs of slow, mid and faster tempo. In general, songs can be divided into two categories without excluding the mixed ones. The former includes songs that are mainly influenced by the German Power Metal, where the concrete sound is more obvious like: "Travellers In Time," "Far Away," "Bleeding Soul" (typical example of the old Helloween style guitars), and "Inner Strength." The latter includes songs mostly influenced by American Power Metal bands of the 80s (Queensrÿche, Jag Panzer, Riot, etc.) like: "Feel The Magic," "Final Prophecy," "Dreamer Of The Night" (where the Crimson Glory influences are obvious), and "Gates Of Fire" (the most epic song of the album, reminds us something of Virgin Steel). In the album there is a cover. Inner Wish "excavated" the Q-5 interesting song "Lonely Lady," which is a sort of power ballad, because while it sounds like an AOR song, in the background guitars "gallop."

The only drawback, according to my personal opinion, is the ballad "Never Let You Die," which sounds a bit mellow and the long duration of "Gates Of Fire," which makes the song a bit boring. Briefly, Inner Wish by Inner Strength give out one more remarkable release, which greatly elevates the Greek Metal scene. Those who have the opportunity to see them live, should by no means lose it, because Inner Wish. respect their audience 100% and play even better than their studio performance.
