REVIEW: Innocent Rosie - Bad Habit Romance Swedmetal Records, 2009
8/10
Innocent Rosie - Bad Habit Romance - cover art Innocent Rosie are one of the new wave of sleaze glam bands that are flooding from Europe these days.... They hail from Sweden and prove there is more to be had from that country than wrist watches and cocoa. Their album Bad Habit Romance is the kind of sleazy hard rock I was raised on and continue to devour when I get the chance. It's a can full of wriggling riffs, screamy snotty vocals and snake like basslines that are thick and scaley, all punctuated by spot on drumming.

The CD was not accompanied with much info on the band. They tour their asses off apparently and have amassed a hefty following live as well as through their myspace page.

But the music is where it's at. They play with a reckless abandon not seen since the glory days of the Sunset strip bands. The whole vibe is a rabid equation of fuck you and fun times. The songs are tight and feisty, although one tune, the ill-fitting "Shine, Shine, Shine" does not quite match the pace of the rest of the disc. It's not a bad song, per se, just an odd fit amongst all the other tunes.

If you like it sleazy and raw like Rock & Roll was meant to be, then this CD will warm your black leather heart.
