REVIEW: Insision - Beneath The Folds Of Flesh Wicked World, 2002
7/10
Insision - Beneath The Folds Of Flesh - cover art Insision is a Swedish band that defies all current trends. Instead of playing technical death / thrash metal or melodic death metal like so many others they have decided to carry the torch of American brutal death metal which is pretty unusual in Sweden today. The band was originally formed back in 1997 but this is their first release for Earache / Wicked World and it is also the first featuring their two new members, the bass player Daniel Ekroth (ex-Dellamorte) and the vocalist Carl Birath (ex-Azatoth). For those who don't live in Sweden I must mention that Daniel Ekroth took part in a Swedish documentary soap called "Baren" ("The Bar") one or two years ago where he finished second. Unlike most other Swedish bands this is music influenced by the heroes of America like Immolation, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Deicide and other such bands. This is a very intense release and it is very easy to say that these guys handle their instruments very well and it seems like they have played together for ages. If you are into brutal death metal you would probably want to keep track of this Swedish band in the future because I'm sure Earache will see to it that they will not be put to sleep quite yet. A short yet very intense experience.
