REVIEW: Insision - Revealed And Worshipped Wicked World, 2004
8/10
Insision - Revealed And Worshipped - cover art When an album is only slightly longer than half an hour you know right away that speed is an important ingredient in the dish and those of you who know the Swedish death metallers Insision know what this is all about. "Revealed And Worshipped" is yet another intense, brutal and skin-tearing speed frenzy where highly technical but not overdone guitar work meets ferocious growling and relentless blastbeats. Insision has been influenced by the most intense and brutal bands on the other side of the big pond such as Immolation, Deicide and Suffocation but they are not lacking ideas of their own. There is nothing unique or groundbreaking in what they do but that is not the point. The concept here is to compose good old brutal death metal and to make the world realize that there is more to Sweden than the power metal of Hammerfall and the melodic death metal of In Flames and At The Gates. This is what they have accomplished and thanks to their individual and collective skills they earned themselves a support slot on the European tour of Suffocation late last month (June 2004). Grim, evil music, low-key grunts and headbanger riffs is really all you need sometimes, nothing new or fancy, just pure metal. Insision is without a doubt one of the most intense and varied brutal death metal bands of today. What Decapitated has done for Poland, Insision has now done for Sweden.
