REVIEW: Jacobs Dream - Theater Of War Metal Blade Records, 2001
8.5/10
Jacobs Dream - Theater Of War - cover art At the moment when Jacobs Dream found themselves at the top of their career they suffer from some line-up troubles but I am very lucky they still managed to do this album. Being an openly Christian metal band they are sure to find themselves ignored by a big part of the metal community. Their music could be labelled power or heavy metal but while most new European bands tend to lean towards the joyful and cheesy the American bands like Jag Panzer, Iced Earth and Jacobs Dream play heavier and a lot more interesting metal. Jacobs Dream are definitely a great band even though they are Christians and it would be a shame if people didn't care about their music just because of that. The opening track of this album is a great song that shows that these guys haven't just picked up their instruments. The vocalist of the band is perhaps their strongest asset since he has got a very wide range on his voice, sounding sometimes like Geoff Tate of early Queensr˙che and sometimes like Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. If you are a fan of heavy metal in general you will probably not be disappointed if you decide on picking up this release.
