REVIEW: Jamie Clarke's Perfect - Nobody Is Perfect Steamhammer Records, 2002
5/10
Jamie Clarke's Perfect - Nobody Is

Perfect - cover art Jamie Clarke was born in 1964 and moved to the center of the music world in 1987, that is Camden, London. He started his career with the pop band Innocence Lost before touring all over the world with the highly successful Irish folk punk band The Pogues. Now he has formed his own band together with an award-winning Bosnian accordion player named Pedja Zaric and a German drummer named Andreas Schabinger. I have never listened to The Pogues and doubt I ever will and even though this album has some very strong qualities it doesn't impress me very much. It starts off with a very promising instrumental intro song and as long as the folky tunes are kept in the foreground this is a very enjoyable but as soon as they start their poppy interludes and Jamie attempts to sing they sound even worse then Backstreet Boys and Westlife together. I know that he probably still likes punk music but I wish he could let go of the "singing" and focus on making speed folk music which he seems to be very good at. This album could have been a very good one indeed but the band really did their best to spoil the experience for me...
