REVIEW: Jezabel - A Todo A Nada Icarus Records, 2001
3/10
Jezabel - A Todo A Nada - cover art I have a hard time justifying alot of these newcoming powermetal bands, that so desperately try to copy the current Helloween and Hammerfall wave. Jezabel is a Argentinian aquaintance, new for me atleast, and they offer exactly what you can expect. Half sloppy powermetal, straining out 8 self-composed semi-catchy songs, and then throwing in Helloween's "I Want Out" as a bonus. Well, the Helloween track we all know is a goodie, but neither the coversong or the album of Jezabel is good enough to get me grooving. The songs lack of inspiration, and the mix of the vocals is far from good, leaving the vocals so far behind in the sound that it is hard to get them at times. Musically the band have atleast decent musicians, but still nothing breathtaking here, so I suggest you should search elsewhere for good metal at the moment. Jezabel will quickly be left forgotten by me, and I think it has to become a standard in this genre soon ? Can't the labels take a little responsibility before signing them ? Please ?
