Judgement Day is not a new band, as far as I picked up from the Internet they are veterans of the scene existing for almost 15 years! Not a short period of time at all. Yet this is only the band's 2nd full length, besides one MCD and 7”. I must, first of all, say I have great respect for guys who are in the scene for so long, but my impressions are that they play only for their own pleasure (salute!), and not for some big fan base. This because I haven’t heard anything new or catchy on this album. They deliver standard European Death Metal that sounds so familiar like I have been listening exactly to this ever since I started listening (rather noticing) to the B league of European Death Metal. All of the songs are played in a very skilled way so that is a plus for album. But, what is played is not plus. The guitar riffs just don’t sound interesting, I have listened to this, as said, numerous times before. Probably it wasn’t exactly this, but very similar definitely. Then, riffs aren’t put together in the most interesting way, it doesn’t seem like an enjoyable song, but rather as a group of riffs, of which some sound good, one after another, and some not. Drums sometimes sound like an instrument that was played just partly to fit the rest of the instruments, and partly for the sake of the drummer’s sole enjoyment. Then, the song structures are sometimes too predictable, like you can guess when a break will be and when drums will change pace or so, which is a little annoying. Still, don’t get me wrong, there are many parts where my only complaint is that originality is lacking and it is lacking throughout the whole album. The production is also questionable for part of the album. Sometimes it sounds right as it should be for this kind of music and sometimes it sounds as if the sound engineer left in the middle of his job and forgot to finish it in the end. The cover is probably the only part of the release towards which I have no complaints (yes, that’s possible). Altogether, in a jewel case it sounds pretty eye-catching.
