Angela Gossow, Cadaveria and now we can add m.Art from the Polish band Kayzen to the list of talented female vocalists in extreme metal. This band actually consists of mostly girls who are not only good-looking but also capable musicians as well. There are only two tracks featured on this promo disc but that is enough to make a first impression of the band. I took a look at the two videos which they have published at their website and one of these tracks were not featured on this promo disc. Back then they had operatic vocals in the band, making them sound rather gothic. Now they have obviously put that behind them and there are only death growls present on this disc except for some spoken samples which add a creepy and disturbing atmosphere to the songs. The death growls are extremely powerful and impressive and m.Art could easily compete with any male growler in the world. She has a very expressive voice and is definitely one of the reasons why Kayzen stand out as one of the finer demo bands I've heard in some time. They still need to work on making their songs a bit more varied and personal but they are on the way to something great it seems. Especially the keyboard playing feels a bit simple, just adding somewhat of a punch to the guitar riffs. The production is superb and someone has obviously invested a lot of money in this band's career. It is difficult to pass a judgment on only two tracks but Kayzen is definitely a band you should look into if you're a fan of groovy death metal. A video clip of "Irremediable" is also included on this disc.
