When I first downloaded the KeeN songs from the website of the official Marilyn Manson fanclub I was expecting to get a material of that sort. Not quite. Although there are some things that resemble Manson's electro style, many things sound more like Rammstein, and other such bands, but less exciting: not at all rough, and very little to offer us metalheads, I would say (I'm not very fond of Rammstein-like bands). All those who are into the kind of music I just mentioned could find this demo by KeeN interesting. I won't grade it too high, because except from a few riffs there isn't very much excitement going on. All those who find electro exciting might get some satisfaction listening to KeeN, but asides from the fact that those electro parts sound just like ripped out of songs I don't usually enjoy listening to anyway. The vocals are also very mediocre (and very Rammstein-like again...). If I could highlight a song from the entire demo, that would be "Mr. Blind" which is quite original in concept and a bit more intrigueing than all the others, but getting back to my original opinion, the way KeeN combines the metal (which is not that much) with the electronic just couldn't get my captivation, and I think rock fans in general wouldn't be too pleased with this recording. There isn't a "weakest" song on the demo because aside from the little promising "Mr. Blind" they are all pretty weak in my opinion. They just don't give you the thrill you long for all through the record (or at least I don't get much adrenalin while listening to them). There's a lot of work behind the demo, that's very clear, but all that work could've been put to much better use if only the band would have concentrated more on the kick of the songs rather than the complexity (which is only complex electro-wise btw. ... not that many killer guitars on there). I couldn't find much info about the band. The things I know about them are from the mail we got to Tartarean Desire in which they instructed us where we can download their stuff and that's about it. I wish I could've said more about the band and not just the record, but I think their intention was for us to review the material and that's all. I've said my opinion on their sound, not sure I was too objective, but I just wrote what I thought about it. If you wish to listen to the band's stuff, and have your own opinions then you can find the link right below. Over and out.
