Black Rose was the now legendary Danish band
where King Diamond started his career before entering the blasphemous Mercyful
Fate. Being one of the most influencial musicians in the metal history King
Diamond has gathered a huge horde of faithful fans who will buy this album
right away without even listening to it. They will however not be disappointed
because this is a very nice piece of metal history considering that it was
done way back in 1980 (the year I was born by the way...). The album was
recorded during a rehearsal session under a bar in the Copenhagen area but
despite this the sound quality is actually pretty good. Musically it´s not as
heavy as Mercyful Fate but Black Rose was a very talented band and they really
show off their skills with some very technical and somewhat aggressive music.
King Diamond didn´t use his real name even back then and he had just started
developing his falsetto vocals that are used at a few spots on this recording.
If you´re Danish, a loyal King Diamond supporter or just a fan of the first
heavy metal wave then this is for you. The last track is a cover of a Golden
Earring song but the rest of them are the band´s own
creations.
