Koldborn present themselves as the new hope of Danish death metal. What they perform may not quite live up to the expectations implied in that statement but they do perform fast death / thrash metal with a rough hardcore edge. The song structures are straight-forward and quite simple but at the same time both aggressive and chaotic. At times they sound a little similar to Malevolent Creation but less creative in my opinion. It is quite nice to listen to for a while but eventually you realize that there is nothing new or fresh to be found on this recording. A decent release that may be interesting for those of you who enjoy tight, well-played extreme metal in general and the Diehard bands in particular. A merciless slap in the face is all there is to it and once the first sense of shock has faded it will slowly turn into background music, leaving you without much of an expression. The female vocals by Birgitte Weinberger in "Sunbroken" and "In Breathless Sighs" were perhaps a bit surprising though even if they don't add much to the final result.
