REVIEW: Koroded - To Have And To Unhold Silverdust Records, 2006
6/10
Koroded - To Have And To Unhold - cover art Koroded are a four-piece with one full-length album previous to the record “To Have and To Unhold” that was released earlier this year. The music is forceful and melodic hardcore with influences from thrash metal as well as from black metal. In other words this is yet another metalcore album, but Koroded still manages, to some extent, feel honest and interesting. The opening track “Zero Minus Zero” has high quality and leaves the listener hoping for more of the same kind. Unfortunately the band fails to keep the same class throughout the album and some of the tracks are uninteresting and boring. The lyrics are political and social commentary, more interesting than a repetitive outburst of hate but not enough to raise the album any further. There are a few hits on “To Have and To Unhold”, but Koroded needs to lift the song writing to a more even quality if they ever want to be more than a mediocre metalcore band.
