REVIEW: Lacuna Coil - Comalies Century Media, 2002
8/10
Lacuna Coil - Comalies - cover art I was a little bit disappointed with the last album from Lacuna Coil called "Unleashed Memories" but they are already back again with their new offering "Comalies". This album is much stronger and makes this band come close to my heart once again. The songs are more passionate and the vocal efforts from both Cristina and Andrea are wonderful. This band could not be complete without any of them and they are one of the most exciting vocal duos on the whole metal scene. You can say whatever you want about a band not being a band without each and every member but there is no way Lacuna Coil would have become the band they are today without these two personalities. They give the band the edge they need to have to stay ahead of the rising competition. There are not many metal bands that you can refer to as being romantic but Lacuna Coil is certainly one of them. Just like their previous release "Comalies" is a very coherent and even album and it is difficult to pick out one track as being better than another but in general the songs are a little better than last time. This makes "Comalies" a must-have album for everyone who feel at home in the more emotional corner of the metal scene. If I had to pick a favorite track it would probably be "Self Deception" but it is a very difficult choice to make.
