The Swedish band Last Temptation began to take
form in the mind of guitarist / vocalist Kennet Jansson in 1999 but a full
line-up was not assembled until January 2002. With a new drummer and a
professional recording they are now ready to unleash an album through
Kennet's own label Regal Media Records. Their self-titled debut album
consists of music made to fuck to according to a friend of mine. I don't know
if I agree with him but there is a nice relaxed atmosphere surrounding the
entire recording which some people may find cozy. Except for the fact that the
overall sound is a little thin I think they have done a very good job
producing the album and it stands clear that these guys are serious about what
they do. The song structures are pretty simple with straight-forward
traditional hard rock / heavy metal melodies and deep vocals. It is all pretty
entertaining and works well as party music but then you have to be drunk
enough to be able to ignore the vocals because Kennet should stick with his
guitar and rest his chords. He doesn't exactly have the best singing voice I
have heard and that kind of spoils what could have been a nicer experience.
Still, the music is nice and soothing when played in the background. Perhaps
their next recording will make more of an impression with me but right now it
is difficult to predict what the future will be like for Last Temptation. They
are still a very young band even though the band members have been playing in
many other local acts earlier on. Stand-out tracks: "Last Temptation",
"Evil Woman".
