REVIEW: Lord Belial - Revelation - The 7th Seal Regain Records, 2007
7.5/10
Lord Belial - Revelation - The 7th Seal - cover art Attend a Lord Belial concert and you will experience some of the most intense minutes of your life, that is a promise. Having now set up my defense I have to admit that I have never really found myself equally impressed with their albums when listening to the music at home. I don't really know why but the plastic discs don't deliver the same relentless energy and aggression that oozes off from the band when on stage. With the release of the band's seventh studio album, "Relevation" (well, the promo sheet says both 6th and 7th but 7th it is), I however think I will have to re-evaluate my opinions on the band. As cold, harsh and melodic as ever before, Lord Belial deliver another quality product that former fans will most likely embrace with open arms (if that is the way of black metal fans...). The band has always struggled in the shadows of genre giants from Sweden such as Dark Funeral and Marduk but this is at least far more interesting than the latest dull offering from Dark Funeral. Not straying from their Dissection worship harmonies or semi-epic mid-paced black metal, they will most likely maintain their old fans as well as gather a few new ones with this release. Now, let's all break the 7th seal and experience the revelation.
