Even though most of you have probably never heard of this band, those of you who live in Spain are in no need of an introduction. Los Suaves have been around for 25 years and have released albums since the early 80s, making them one of the most important bands in their country. Lyrically their new album "Si Yo Fuera Dios" deals with the more negative moments in life, brought to the listener through the vocalist Yosi who has a strong and raspy voice, a little similar to Lemmy. In fact, the whole band has a lot in common with Motörhead although they are not as heavy and dirty. Instead they have brought in more melodic and softer elements but also some progressive / power metal riffs here and there. Lots of guitar solos will probably also make some listeners happy. Los Suaves may very well have been one of the best bands in the heavy rock genre in Spain but this album is not a very exciting one. The songs are well held together, the vocalist is doing his job without flaws and the production is just about perfect but it lacks that little extra that takes it one step ahead of the decent mark. There is no real energy and nothing that makes it stick out.
