REVIEW: Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath Music For Nations, 2003
7/10
Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath - cover art Sweden's Lost Horizon are back after the smashing debute from 2001 and they've done it again. They still play true metal with catchy tunes, glorious choruses and crunching riffs. They've also added some more depth to the music, with Attila Publik on keyboards. He gives the music a whole new dimension with atmospheric sounds that you really don't notice on their own. The guitar work is perfect, it keeps you seated through all of the album, the solos are neatly made, varying from faster-than-light ones to the simple, yet emotional ones. And I just can't forget the angelic voice of Daniel Heiman that sucks you into the music, bombing you with emotions. There are only a couple of things that bother me about AFTTGB: 1) The album is too short (52 minutes of music, which includes a three minute outro and an intro), 2) They didn't really make a step forward, since the album is quite similar to their debute. They still need some growing up as a band, apparently. OUSTANDING TRACKS: ALL!
