REVIEW: Lost In Lunacy - Dreams (demo) Self-financed, 2003
6/10
Lost In Lunacy - Dreams (demo) - cover art Lost In Lunacy is a band band from Linköping, Sweden, who have been working in the shadows for several years now but perhaps their new demo "Dreams" will change that. The band members have very diverse musical influences which clearly shows on this recording and it is very difficult to decide on what to call their music. Like a black hole escapes time and space Lost In Lunacy escape from being labelled. In a way that's good because it is proof of the fact that they have been able to create something of their own but it might also mean that their music is very hard for labels to market. "Dreams" is the audial result of a meeting between Fear Factory, Swedish melodic death metal and hardcore with a bunch of more progressive elements thrown in. Add to that a light touch of modern rock á la Linkin Park. You get the point? No? Well, then you understand that it is almost impossible to review an album like this. Either you like it or you don't. I myself am not too happy about the vocals and it feels a little like the band is running as fas as they can at the spot without going anywhere. Sometimes you can try too hard in order to create something out of the ordinary and perhaps that is what Lost In Lunacy have done. Not bad but not truely impressive either.
