REVIEW: Lost In Tears - Dialogue With Mirror And God Locomotive Music, 2002
7/10
Lost In Tears - Dialogue With Mirror And God - cover art The gothic music scene in Finland and many other places in the world is exploding today with countless new bands fighting over the attention of the fans. Lost In Tears was formed in 1997 and have now signed a deal with Madrid based label Locomotive Music. They have everything a gothic metal band is in need of - a male vocalist with a dark Peter Steele voice, nice passionate melodies and melancholic lyrics. There is one peculiar thing about this band though. They actually have three guitarists which gives them a very thick sound that in this case add even further to the melancholic nature of the music. The intro is wonderfully simple and might as well have been done by My Dying Bride. Just like most other gothic acts they fail to maintain my interest throughout the whole album though and it's mostly the music that falls behind since the vocals are very well done with a few occasional growls. A laid-back nice soothing release that will caress some wounded souls in the world I suppose. Finland is going strong in all directions at the moment and this is at least more interesting than the post-Wolfheart releases from Moonspell. Stand-out tracks: "Without You", "The Bleeding", "Beauty From The Past" (the heaviest and most traditional metal sounding song on the album).
