Lost Soul's Cry - Age Of Forthcoming Chaos

(EP) - cover art Back in 1999 Frank Klein Douwel was the singer and keyboard player of a Dutch band called Commitment. Commitment played several live shows in Enschede before breaking up. Frank however decided to take his musical ideas with him and bring them to life in his own project which was baptized to Lost Soul's Cry. In January last year he recorded five songs which became the "Age Of Forthcoming Chaos". It is hard to describe the music he has produced but since he prefers the title extreme dark metal himself that will do fine. The music is very chaotic and intense, at times almost too chaotic to be enjoyable, but there are always room for some interesting riffs and wonderful technical guitar work. Since he is a keyboard player these songs also show the more atmospheric side of his musical performance, especially the more experimental third track "Peace Of Mind". The vocals are mostly dark black metal vocals but there are also some spoken words and screams. Lost Soul's Cry is the brainchild of a talented musician and I hope to hear more from him in the future, only then more structured and mature. Meanwhile he keeps himself busy recording new material and doing session keyboards for bands like Solarisis and Toccata. Despite the awful album cover this is pretty good music.
