REVIEW: Lost Soul - Ubermensch (Death Of God) Osmose Productions, 2003
7.5/10
Lost Soul - Ubermensch (Death Of God) - cover art Polish death metal, you say? Vader. Hate. Yattering. Decapitated. The list could go on, and some would say that they all sound the same. Regardless, Lost Soul are here and they play their metal fast and heavy. As much early 90's Floridian death comes to mind as does Polish death when partaking of these 12 tracks, and Jacek and Piotr, Lost Soul's axemen, can outshred most of the guitar players in either of the aforementioned scenes. The muted 16th note scale in "To The New Light!" stood alongside the bulk of "The One You Seek" as being the best of the bunch, really coming out of the speakers to grab you by the ears and say "Listen to this shit!!". "The Crown", the album's outro, sounded like something that the mighty Blood Axis would do, providing an odd ending to an otherwise bloody bout of unapologetic death metal. Lost Soul add an almost traditional element to the largely neo-black metal roster of Osmose, and should fare well in the global tumult of death metal warfare. [Editor's comment: This album was originally released in 2002 through the Polish label Empire Records.]
