REVIEW: Lucifugum - Invade War Is Imminent Productions, 2000
6/10
Lucifugum - Invade - cover art I don´t really like the fact that this album was followed by flyers introducing a Hungarian band called Verdeleth who seems very much like a national socialist pile of crap. I don´t know anything about Lucifugum and their views but right now I´m only interesting in what the music sounds like. If they are too ignorant and stupid to see through the lies then that´s their problem. If that´s the case let us all pray and hope that they will come to their senses once again. Lucifugum is a Spanish band with a quite interesting sound as far as black metal goes. Even though most of the songs are pounding through the same way there are some more or less experimental use of clean(er) vocals and nice dynamic melodic overtones that enhance their music a great deal. There are definitely no symphonic keyboards or serene female vocals to be heard on this album. Raw and primal black metal seems to be what most Spanish bands are aiming for and Lucifugum is doing their job pretty well with the additional strength of devilish and haunting melodies. The band shows promising signs but most of the music is still a little too generic to stay interesting all the way to the final track. May all nazi, racist, prejudiced and close-minded thoughts perish from the surface of the earth and may black metal as an artform flourish forevermore.
