Just like every style of music, it began somewhere with someone. Then once it becomes popular, it seems like either every band is playing the new “style”, or every label is signing and releasing all the same shit. Luddite Clone fall under metalcore. They in no way were the originators of this style, but they did release this EP early into the existence of the genre. “The Arsonist and the Architect” follows along the same path as the Dillinger Escape Plan but Luddite Clone have recorded some unique material with brutal intensity. This EP is short and leaves you wanting much more, unfortunately other than this EP, Luddite Clone only released a split with Burnt by the Sun and a Live CD of their last show. That’s it. So, that’s what makes these six songs so important. Each song is technical and fierce, filled with pure aggression. The guitars lead the hatred to a boiling point, while the drums explode with grinding blast beats. With each guttural growl, and finger splitting riff, you can’t stop yourself from thrashing around. “Arthropod” will bring the demon out of anyone. Defiantly the best track, which builds on raw intensity. This band has a lot to offer. Along with the grinding blast beats, the death metal screams, and the thrashing rhythms, Luddite Clone aren’t afraid of taking chances, as they break into dark jazz influenced hardcore. Just when you thought you’ve heard it all from metalcore / grindcore bands, Luddite Clone changes your perspective.
