After four full-length albums on Pagan Records, Lux Occulta became more or less a cult band on the Polish black metal scene. When they signed with the Portuguese label Maquiavel Music they not only sold out on their home country but also their musical roots. That was the way many of the band's old fans felt when their fifth and final album (the band is now more or less dissolved since early this year 2003) was released. No longer were they a "simple" melodic black / death metal band but started experimenting with elements from jazz and industrial music. At one poing or another you can even hear some trip-hop sounds. No wonder their old fans were scared to death. Every time a band changes some fans will immediately turn their backs on the band while others will tell those people to keep their close-minded brains to themselves. It is only natural that people will have different opinions, some adapt to changes very easy, especially those who have a broad taste in music, while others don't. I must say that for me this is by far the most exciting release from Lux Occulta. It is perhaps not the best one but definitely the most diverse and interesting one. I really hope that they will return to the scene again because I would love to see what the future has to bring for a band like this. This is like Opeth meets Rammstein on drugs while fighting Aborym and newer The Third And The Mortal. Completely insane, chaotic and unpredictable. Psychedelic extreme noise for twisted minds.
