REVIEW: Lyzanxia - Unsu Listenable Records, 2006
7.5/10
Lyzanxia - Unsu - cover art Produced by Swedish metal mind extraordinaire Fredrik Nordström, "Unsu" explodes in your ears with the clear and intense sound we are used to hearing from Swedish death / thrash metal bands. Despite this, Lyzanxia hail from France, a country that has had trouble gaining recognition as a metal country even though giving birth to two respectable record labels such as Osmose Productions and Listenable Records. Listenable is the label who have decided to give Lyzanxia a chance to spread their message to the world for real. Absorbing inspiration from the classic Bay Area thrash as well as the Swedish scene, I would be stretching the truth by referring to Lyzanxia as a unique band but they certainly deserve credit for creating a quality album that puts them well ahead of most genre colleagues. Diversity is the keyword as they mix brutality, groove and melodies in a fine fashion. It quickly becomes apparent that this is a band who put a lot of thought into their art and it pays off. If you think most Swedish bands are starting to repeat themselves I suggest that you take a look at Lyzanxia.
