REVIEW: Machine Head - Burn My Eyes Roadrunner Records, 1994
10/10
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes - cover art Have I ever heard an album filled with such energy and aggression from start to finish while still being melodic? No. I know that a lot of you out there really hate these kind of bands because of their "commercial" attitude but what can I say; Machine Head is simply an amazing band worthy of being Pantera's antecessor to the throne. With stronger vocals than Pantera and a powerful thrust in their music Machine Head is definitely one of the best metal bands to surface during the 90s. This album has it all. It's fast and technical, aggressive yet melodic and there is not one single song that isn't of top notch quality. If you're lokking for an energy injection this album will serve your needs and keep you alive for a few more days. Don't let anybody else make your opinions. Just listen for yourself and you will discover the real truth - Machine Head is more (or at least better) metal than most other bands. "Burn My Eyes" was produced by Colin Richardson, recorded and engineered by Vincent [great name!] Wojno. It was recorded at Scream Studio, Studio City, CA, with Liz Svoka as assistant engineer. Mastered at Future Disc, CA, by Eddy Schreyer.
