REVIEW: Machine Men - Machine Men (EP) Dynamic Arts Records, 2002
7/10
Machine Men - Machine Men (EP) - cover art All these new Finnish newcomers are keeping a high standard, Machine Men being a impressive band that has walked the ladder from the demostage, via competitions to compilations, and then finally having the patience to get signed and here then releasing their debut self-titled EP. Their music is very 80's metal influenced, but with a modern soundpicture, giving certain hints of the solo works of a certain Bruce Dickinson, in the "Chemical Wedding" and "Accident of Birth" era. The dynamic of Machine Men is probably the strongest point of the band, as they have been writing good songs, and then performing them tightly together with a intense production, making the EP very enjoyable. It will be exciting to see if this band will be able to follow-up this EP with a real album, that is a challenge for many bands, but I am excited to hear more! Their ending version of Maiden's "Aces High" is also truly enjoyable. Not a easy song to cover, but Machine Men do it well! Watch out for these Finns in the future.
