REVIEW: Maledicta - Eruption From Insides Self-financed, 2003
5/10
Maledicta - Eruption From Insides - cover art What the Hell is this? I don't say I don't like bands which are using keyboards and other so called "climatic" stuff, but mercy!!! This is too much. Maledicta is playing something that I could call sympho-gothic-black metal. All is well produced, the sound has good quality but it means nothing when we go to the music. There are much more keyboards here than on all Dimmu Borgir records altogether. If it's metal then why do keyboards play the lead role in this music? The vocals are quite differentiated; there are grim black voices, clean male vocals and female choirs. Ok, I understand that might be good to make this album not too boring, but once again, it's too much variation in the vocals! If they could use another kind of vocals only as an event and stay with the black voice in the main role then it would be interesting. But while listening to this I got the feeling that it's a metal version of Linkin Park, but with a grim voice in the place of rap and with a little bit more hard guitars. So, people who like this music sure want to kill me now, but I can't take this music. From the commercial point of view it's very good, from the metal point of view it's nothing special. Looking like this I can apprise it at 5 but nothin' more. Sorry guys, maybe next time will be better. I hope so...
