REVIEW: Malevolent Creation - Envenomed Arctic Music Group, 2000
8.5/10
Malevolent Creation - Envenomed - cover art There are still very few American death metal bands who have impressed me as much as Malevolent Creation. The intensity and power drive of their music is incredible and what is amazing is their never-ceasing ability to create interesting songs without falling into the trap of sounding the same all the way through. Their latest offering "Envenomed" continues down the same dark alley of death and destruction with the target set at total world control. I'm not that interested in the lyrical content of most death metal bands but I do appreciate the bone-crushing energy that lies brooding deep within the rough-edged music. In fact I rarely find song lyrics in general that impressive with a few obvious exceptions like Cradle Of Filth, Dargaard and Theatre Of Tragedy but of course everyone can't do the same thing... Malevolent Creation is not the most exquisite band on the planet but they still haven't disappointed me. Great riffs and very solid death growls make the sounds that will make your ears sore and your neighbours stay up all night. What else could you demand from a metal album?
