Death metal veterans Malevolent Creation have had their fair share of line-up changes throughout the years but they have managed to survive and have only come out even stronger from every dark period. They need no introduction and this is an album I have been looking forward to for a long time. The last album from the band - "The Will To Kill" - marked a slight departure from the earlier sound into something even more violent, extreme and intense. That was an album filled with rage and those of you who prefer a sense of melody in front of untamed aggression might have found it difficult to swallow. The slight change in musical direction was only temporary it seems because "Warkult" is yet again more dynamic and melodic while still maintaining the massive neckbreaking riff frenzy with which we have come to affiliate Malevolent Creation. Death, war and violence pillage the pleasant tales heard on this album and I can't help but trace a little bit of Bolt Thrower in there. Nuclear Blast has had a problem finding good new bands to sign but Malevolent Creation now reign among the top death metal bands on the label together with Canada's blast beat specialists Kataklysm. This is a band that has yet to disappoint me. Malevolent Creation has done it again and this little audial delicacy simply kills! It's such a shame that they had to cancel their show here in Linköping in June because I would have loved to see them live once more.
