REVIEW: Mangled - Most Painful Ways The Plague, 2001
6.5/10
Mangled - Most Painful Ways - cover art Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse seem to have invaded the Dutch lowlands because there are lots of bands from Holland who have been heavily influenced by these American giants. Mangled is definitely one of them and even though they don´t really show any groundbreaking tendencies they are certainly capable of at least shaking the ground a little. Last time we heard from the band was in 1998 when their debut album "Ancient Times" was released on Fadeless Records and they have now prepared to strike again with 10 brand new brutal symphonies designed do make you scream and shout until you spontaneously combust. Be sure to have the fire extinguisher ready! Hopefully you will not set yourself on fire because I want you to keep reading my reviews :) Well, jokes cast aside, this is a very intense and brutal death metal album but it is not extremely fast. The nearest comparison would be newer Morbid Angel which means that it tends to get a little boring in the end. If you like this kind of music it will not be a disappointment because both the musicianship and the production is way above average but if you´re new to the genre there are better bands to check out. Death, gore, grind!
