Last time we saw Marilyn Manson he made a commercial hit
album called "Mechanical Animals". This time he has gone back to his roots
with an album a lot less commercial but still maintaining some of the
commercial sound from the last one. Something for sure is that this man is a
very interesting guy - sometimes he seems like the most stupid person on earth
and other times he seems like a very intelligent one. There are only two
solutions to this riddle. Either he is extremely intelligent or a very
confused young man. Either way he is still capable of making music both
interesting and controversial. It all comes down to one thing, rock'n'roll
is meant to be shocking and Marilyn Manson is per definition the ultimate rock
god. I don't see him as a god but I do admire the things he do. People like
him who stir up the society are very important because without shocks people
seem to be immobilized these days. "Holy Wood" is a good album, darker than
the previous one but also noisier and more experimental which kind of spoils
the music a bit. "Mechanical Animals" may have been saturated with
commercial flirts but I still liked it
better.
