REVIEW: Maryslim - A Perfect Mess Wild Kingdom Records, 2007
3/10
Maryslim - A Perfect Mess - cover art The Swedish band Maryslim is probably quite unknown to most of the audience out there. Although “A Perfect Mess” is their third studio album and the band has been touring quite a bit they still haven’t been able to get much attention. I am not surprised about that since there is a lot left to be wished for when it comes to Maryslim’s music. They have been described as a mixture of early Kiss, New York Dolls and AC/DC but unfortunately that does not work as well as one might expect. Most of the songs are boring and the music sounds like a bad version of something you already have heard about twenty other bands do better. There are two tracks on the entire record that are worth listening to and that is certainly not enough to make it worth the money if you buy the album. If you have heard Maryslim’s earlier records and like them perhaps you should give this a try, but the rest of us will be much better off without this record in our collection.
