Mass of Virtue is somewhat new in the big-scale metal world, and even though they couldn’t be considered as being at the same level as Symphony X, Rhapsody, Edguy etc., they surely don’t have much until they get there.
Their style is not the most original (actually it is a very good re-production, re-composing and re-recording of the famous Rhapsody and Symphony X ideas – but at it’s very best, I must add). I am very enthusiastic to have the chance to review such a band. They have so much going on, so much talent put to use, that it filled my heart with pleasure just to listen to these great tracks.
My fav song from this three-piece demo is 'Facing the Enemy', which kicks off with a brilliant drum roll, continues with a very good, melodic vocal line and tops it all off with a beautifull shred-melodic solo – absolutely brilliant.
'Another Day’ and 'Of Broken Dreams’ are also very good songs – not as exciting as Rhapsody, Dream Theater or Symphony X songs but very well orchestrated. I guess that part will come with a little more experience.
All in all, Mass Of Virtue are definitely going to be among the virtuosos of future metal( even present). Three excelent songs so far. A little work on originality, dynamism and they’re going to touch the sky. This is the first band I’ve heard so far that I’m convinced will make it. Keep up the good work guys! You’re not going to dissapoint anyone – I’m very sure of that.
