And here they are again! Back when Uli Kusch and Roland Grapow left the infamous Helloween, I didn't exactly understand what they could possibly be thinking, but once the first Masterplan record hit my blasters, I was addicted. Jorn Lande, many would say, is "THE voice" of today's metal scene. Masterplan's solid and monumental sound is likely to be captivating to all living and breathing metal, it is, however, the latest superstar metal band of the european scene. I really don't know what this year could bring, but "Aeronautics" had already earned my vote for the top 10 albums of 2005. Just not easy to top this much music. Every single track is a treat, as none of the overused metal cliché's are to be heard on this project: reinventing heavy metal, that's what it is. Every riff will have you hanging on with your teeth as it is impossible to predict what's coming next, what will be the surprize in the next few seconds. And of all this without making you loose any of the captivation or energy gained from the previous riff. There's absolutely no age restriction to this record: all, who know what music really is about, and can appreciate likes of Helloween but are tired of the same old shit, be prepared for "Aeronautics"! This record might be a collector's item in a few years as this band is bound for lasting success. I have to admit, I have been a fan of both Helloween and Ark, but I'm now very pleased that both Jorn Lande and the two ex-Helloween members decided to pave new ways towards the land of music - together. It is not a question of whether to get it or not, this record is mandatory! Only problem, I would say, that addicts, like me, have to spend extra money on the mini-album, "Back For My Life", as it contains three songs not included here, that weigh just about as much as any of the tracks that made it onto the record. Hail to the kings!
